Writing with words & images

Shortlisted authors at Hall & Woodhouse DLF (DorchesterLitFest) Writing Award  2019 ceremony. Lft to rt, Emma Timpany (winner Travelling in the Dark, Fairlight), Susmita Bhattacharya (Table Manners, Dahlia)), Dee La Vardera (The Road to Civitella 1944, Fonthill Media) Maria Donovan (runner-up The Chicken Soup Murder, Seren).

I am Dee La Vardera, writer and photographer from Wiltshire. I write magazine features, short stories and dabble in poetry. I have published non-fiction books relating to local history, and  about WW2.

‘Dewfall-hawk’ is Thomas Hardy’s poetic word for the nightjar which appears in ‘Afterwards’,  a favourite poem of mine.

Whatever the medium – poetry, prose, music, painting, sculpture or photography, it is a joy to have the freedom to express oneself and to share one’s view of the world with others.
